Christmas in the Philippines

Hey y'all! I hope you have all had a wonderful and merry Christmas! This week was so much fun! We had a Christmas Zone Conference in Goa with special musical numbers, pork lechon, and gifts! It was all focused of course on Jesus Christ! It was such an amazing Zone Conference, and I felt the spirit of Christmas for sure! Our Mission President, President Hansen, gave us a new challenge for 2023. He challenged us to find Christ in the Book of Mormon everyday as we read. He gave us new Books of Mormon  and told us to make this Book of Mormon different from the rest. I've only been at it a few days, but I have been able to see just how much the Book of Mormon testifies of Christ! I'm excited to continue the Challenge.  This week has also, like last week, been filled with many dinner invitations and Christmas parties. Our bellies have been shoved full of food and treats! I have actually really enjoyed Christmas as a missionary. It is definitely a lot different than being at home,...

It's Party Time!

Hey y'all! What a wonderful week it has been! It has been filled with lots and lots of food, Christmas parties and much much more! This week has been my first week out of my training phase and with a new companion, Elder Simbol. He is awesome! We have been working really hard over here in Cotnogan, and are really starting to connect with the members, and people here in our area. He is also helping me out with my Tagalog a lot, and I am actually seeing improvements! During lessons I have become a lot more confident with my Tagalog. And I have been able to really grow my relationship with the members here! Because our relationship with the people is growing, this means a lot more food haha. People are inviting us over to eat always now. And they don't let us leave until all the food is gone haha.  Also we have been getting invited to many Christmas parties! And let me tell ya, they know how to party in the Philippines! We just had a party with our whole barangay, there was ...

Transfers!

Hey hey y'all!  This week has been great! A lot of learning experiences and a lot of good times! We have transfers this week! I will actually still be staying in Cotnogan, but I will be with a new Companion, Elder Simbol! I am excited to see what we can do in Cotnogan together. And how it will look with a new companion.  This week we were also able to go to Bato on Sunday to baptize 3 kids! We believe that children don't need to be baptized until they reach age 8, we also believe in Baptism by total immersion in water. These children have been going to church their whole lives, but have finally turned 8. So, the 2 of us, the 3 of them and the 3 moms hopped onto a tricycle meant to fit 4 people and headed to the Church in Bato. (there is no baptismal font in Cotnogan) When we got there the baptismal font was only knee high, due to the very, very slow flowing water. So, I baptized them in about 2-2.5 feet of water, which is not very high at all haha. But it did the job! I w...

Zone Conference in Goa

These past 2 weeks have been great! First off I was able to have a Zone conference with my zone(Iriga Zone) and the Goa zone! This was so awesome because I got to see my original companion in the MTC, Elder Cope, and some Elders from my District in the MTC, Elder Zierenberg and Elder Barry! It was great to have a little reunion! My biggest take aways from Zone conference were first, to be willing to submit to the Lords will. And second, what am I willing to give up to come closer to the Lord. I've come to realize that in order to have the Spirit with me always, and to become a consecrated missionary, It takes some work. I have to make a conscious effort to continuously come closer to Christ. But as I do, I have been able to feel the Spirit more often, and the Love that my Father in Heaven has for me! What are you Willing to give up to feel the Saviors presence and love in you life? Other than Zone Conference, this week has been really fun! Tagalog is still a struggle haha. I have b...
