Week 2 in the Provo, Utah MTC

MALIGAYANG PASKO!! Merry Christmas everyone!

It is official, Christmas time has begun in the Philippines! For them Christmas begins on September 1st and goes all the way till the end of December! Being the only holiday that they mainly celebrate, they go all out! This week has been way good. Starting off, my district and I had an awesome Temple trip to the Provo Temple, which is just a few minutes walk up the road. It is SOOOO BIG compared to the Newport Temple! The layout is really unique and creative. And the artwork portrayed inside is absolutely beautiful.

But then came our first in-person HOA, where my companion and I, teaching a lesson about the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Tagalog. This was on Wednesday the 31st. We did not understand a single word that the native Filipina was saying. It was only 15 minutes long, but for those 15 minutes we couldn't understand her, and she couldn't understand us. At. All. It was very irritating and frustrating. It felt like I was a 2 year old trying to have a full on conversation with a 40 year old. T'was not good haha. After that HOA I realized that I have to work even harder to learn this dang language. So, my companion and I have been trying our absolute best to only speak in Tagalog. No matter how long it takes to get a sentence out, the goal is to only speak Tagalog. And it has been so helpful. Now a week later we can basically say most of what we want to. It is by no means perfect Tagalog, the sentence structure is wrong just about all the time. And don't even get me started on verb conjugations/ang, ng and sa placement. But we can say enough/know enough so that we can sort of understand each other now. We have done another HOA in Tagalog and we still can barely understand her, and she us. But we can pick up on more and explain more to her. We are definitely progressing thanks to The Gift of Tongues.

Other than the Tagalog Language progress, I personally have been progressing a lot with the Language of the Spirit. I can tell that I am coming to have a closer connection with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and His Gospel. My personal testimony is growing and I am beginning to realize the true joy that this Gospel has brought into my life. I love it! And I love being here! See yah next week!

He Made it to Naga! (and survived his first Typhoon)

Hey lovely parents!  We had a level 3 Typhoon here the other day, it was pretty cool, and scary. Luckily it didn't hit us directly. But there was a lot of rain and very, very strong wind. Also I have heard Naga gets hit with the hardest Typhoons, so it should be fun! Anyways, I leave tomorrow morning at 3:50 AM hopping on a plane to Naga. I think my P-Days will be switching to Monday, but I am still not sure. It will be fun to finally be in the mission, and to see the area. I've heard I have the best mission president out there, who I am excited to meet. I'm also excited to get my machete :) I love y'all very much and miss you! Talk to ya next week! -Isaac Dear Morgans, This is Sister Hansen. President and I are so happy to welcome Elder Morgan to the Philippines Naga Mission! He is well and just met his new companion. We just wanted you to know he arrived safely and that his P-days will be on Mondays. We love him already and look forward to serving with him here! Warml...

Dalawang pogi

Hey hey. This week has been awesome! Here's why... We were lucky enough to have held a service project at the local police station. It went great. We cleaned their alleyway and they gave us snacks. I guess it was a win win. We then got to celebrate the good ole 1 year mark with barbecue and root beer floats. Which is quite limited here in the Philippines. Following the celebration, we had Zone Conference. I loved it! We focused on the difference between a testimony and conversion. And how we can help our interested people become converted unto the Lord. Zone Conference was then followed with exchanges. It was me and another american. His name is Elder Barzee. He is an awesome guy, and an even better missionary. We ended up finding a lot of new people to teach. While on exchanges, we went to dinner right. As we were eating we hear someone yell from behind us "marhay na banggi po sa inyong dalawang pogi" which in english translates too "good evening to you two handsome...

A Typhoon in the Middle of Summer!

Hey yall!  What an absolute amazing week it has been! It has been filled with funny stories and crazy experiences. We started off this week having a great day of missionary work. We were teaching and serving the amazing people of the Philippines, when all of the sudden we got a call from the Zone Leaders. They told us a big Typhoon was on its way to hit our area... we were instructed to pack up for 3 days, and go to Lagonoy ( a bigger city outside of our area. ) We were told to not leave Lagonoy until instructed otherwise. So we didn't. As the night went on we were really expecting so to see a big typhoon start to take way, but it didn't happen. There was a little bit of rain fall and some wind but, that was it. The next day came by and there still was no typhoon... we were wondering what to do. Do we work? Do we go back to our area? We ended calling the Zone Leaders, and they said to stay in Lagonoy until everything had passed. So we stayed and worked in their area.  As a Dis...
