Lost in the Jungle of San Roque!

Hey ya'll this week has been wild!

Yes, Elder Anor and I got lost in the jungles of San Roque! But before I get into that let me tell you about Elderly Filipino Week here in Cotnogan. It is a holiday over here. All of the old people from around our area come and party! All week! They blast songs and sing karaoke, have dance competitions, and best of all cook good food for us to eat! Respect is a big factor in Filipino Culture, so this week was dedicated to showing our love and respect for the Elderly. It was so much fun and I was able to practice my Tagalog with them a little bit which was awesome!

This week we have had no water, and we wont for another month-ish. So each morning we have to walk nearly a kilometer to the water pump and get to work. After we pump our containers with water we have to lug the water all the way back to the apartment. And we have to do this a few times just to get water for the day! It is very fun haha.

This week has been a struggle with Tagalog/Rinconada as well. I still can't understand anyone, and they can't understand me. This is very frustrating because I want to be able to contribute more then I am currently able too in lessons, and talking to the people. Often times when asked a question there are many seconds of awkwardness before my companion helps out haha. It is tons of fun!

But now, how I got lost in San Roque. In the Cotnogan area of the Philippines, there are no addresses or street signs. So for directions people just point. Earlier in the week we met Sister Luc, and she was interested in our message. And wanted us to teach her. Come Sunday we made time to visit her, and all we knew was that she lived in San Roque. So we start our hour long walk to San Roque. And when we get there we asked a bunch of people where Sister Luc lived, and they pointed to the jungle. So we went. And pretty soon after we stopped seeing people, we realized that we had no idea where to go haha. And there was no one to help us so we just kept walking, and walking. We were lost haha. Probably for an hour and a half or so. And only after a bunch of bugs and spiders were starting to crawl on me, we luckily we were able to come across 2 people pumping water from a well. And they helped us on our way. And we finally found Sister Luc's house and had an awesome lesson! We talked about God's love for us and the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ! The spirit was strong during this lesson. I was even able to testify a tiny bit in understandable Tagalog! It was exciting to see some progress!

Anyways, I love and miss you all! Here are some pictures of the Philippines!

He Made it to Naga! (and survived his first Typhoon)

Hey lovely parents!  We had a level 3 Typhoon here the other day, it was pretty cool, and scary. Luckily it didn't hit us directly. But there was a lot of rain and very, very strong wind. Also I have heard Naga gets hit with the hardest Typhoons, so it should be fun! Anyways, I leave tomorrow morning at 3:50 AM hopping on a plane to Naga. I think my P-Days will be switching to Monday, but I am still not sure. It will be fun to finally be in the mission, and to see the area. I've heard I have the best mission president out there, who I am excited to meet. I'm also excited to get my machete :) I love y'all very much and miss you! Talk to ya next week! -Isaac Dear Morgans, This is Sister Hansen. President and I are so happy to welcome Elder Morgan to the Philippines Naga Mission! He is well and just met his new companion. Dalawang pogi

Hey hey. This week has been awesome! Here's why... We were lucky enough to have held a service project at the local police station. It went great. We cleaned their alleyway and they gave us snacks. I guess it was a win win. We then got to celebrate the good ole 1 year mark with barbecue and root beer floats. Which is quite limited here in the Philippines. Following the celebration, we had Zone Conference. I loved it! We focused on the difference between a testimony and conversion. And how we can help our interested people become converted unto the Lord. Zone Conference was then followed with exchanges. It was me and another american. His name is Elder Barzee. He is an awesome guy, and an even better missionary. We ended up finding a lot of new people to teach. While on exchanges, we went to dinner right. As we were eating we hear someone yell from behind us "marhay na banggi po sa inyong dalawang pogi" which in english translates too "good evening to you two handsome...

A Typhoon in the Middle of Summer!

Hey yall!  What an absolute amazing week it has been! It has been filled with funny stories and crazy experiences. We started off this week having a great day of missionary work. We were teaching and serving the amazing people of the Philippines, when all of the sudden we got a call from the Zone Leaders. They told us a big Typhoon was on its way to hit our area... we were instructed to pack up for 3 days, and go to Lagonoy ( a bigger city outside of our area. ) We were told to not leave Lagonoy until instructed otherwise. So we didn't. As the night went on we were really expecting so to see a big typhoon start to take way, but it didn't happen. There was a little bit of rain fall and some wind but, that was it. The next day came by and there still was no typhoon... we were wondering what to do. Do we work? Do we go back to our area? We ended calling the Zone Leaders, and they said to stay in Lagonoy until everything had passed. So we stayed and worked in their area.  As a Dis...
