Where's My Companion?!?!?!

Hey Y'all! I love the Philippines! The culture, the food, and especially the people! Filipinos are soooo friendly and out going, and are definitely making me feel loved. This week I have been able to try a bunch of new foods, which the members made for us. All of it was very very good! Like Lubi lubi, buchi, spicy carbonata and many more, of which I have forgotten the names haha. Also because we are living in a jungle part of the Philippines, we have a lot of buko (coconuts) everywhere! And everyone makes this delicious drink consisting of coconut water, sweet and condensed milk, and sugar. And everyone loves to watch the American as I try to hack the coconut husks off with a machete. It is a lot of fun!

Everyone in the Philippines makes themselves at home, wherever they are. Everyone knows everyone, and everyone looks out for everyone. It is such a cool thing! Because they are going through the same struggles in life, they realize how important it is to treat others how you would want to be treated. They are so giving even when they have almost nothing to give. Because of this they give there all of their love to absolutely everyone they meet, no matter the circumstances. I have heard a reoccurring phrase in the Philippines, which is "we may be little people, but we have the biggest hearts." And I know that is 100% true.

In the Philippines everyone uses public transportation. Like jeepneys, tricycles, and motorcycles. As Elder Anor and I were coming back from Zone Conference, which was so good and uplifting, we had to take motorcycles from Matacon to Cotnogan. So I hopped on 1 and my companion hopped on the other. While on a mission it is a rule to stay with your companion at all times. It provides extra safety and you can look out for each other. But as we began to drive I realized that my motorcycle driver went to the right, away from the apartment, while my companions went to the left, towards the apartment. It soon came to my knowledge that I was in a bit of a predicament. I was trying to tell the driver to turn around and head towards to Salvation, close to where our apartment is located. He did not understand me. So we just kept going on our way. And I began to freak out a little haha. At this point me and my companion where totally separated and I had no way to tell the driver where to go. Totally Not Allowed. I did not no what to do. Luckily, my Branch President, the leader of our congregation, passed us on the road. Realized I had no companion and came to my rescue! He stopped my motorcycle driver and told him where to go. It was such a blessing! Later my Branch President told me instead of saying SalVaTion I need to say SalBaCion and then I would have made it back haha. Tagalog is hard haha.

Anyways, that's the week for ya.

He Made it to Naga! (and survived his first Typhoon)

Hey lovely parents!  We had a level 3 Typhoon here the other day, it was pretty cool, and scary. Luckily it didn't hit us directly. But there was a lot of rain and very, very strong wind. Also I have heard Naga gets hit with the hardest Typhoons, so it should be fun! Anyways, I leave tomorrow morning at 3:50 AM hopping on a plane to Naga. I think my P-Days will be switching to Monday, but I am still not sure. It will be fun to finally be in the mission, and to see the area. I've heard I have the best mission president out there, who I am excited to meet. I'm also excited to get my machete :) I love y'all very much and miss you! Talk to ya next week! -Isaac Dear Morgans, This is Sister Hansen. President and I are so happy to welcome Elder Morgan to the Philippines Naga Mission! He is well and just met his new companion. We just wanted you to know he arrived safely and that his P-days will be on Mondays. We love him already and look forward to serving with him here! Warml...

Dalawang pogi

Hey hey. This week has been awesome! Here's why... We were lucky enough to have held a service project at the local police station. It went great. We cleaned their alleyway and they gave us snacks. I guess it was a win win. We then got to celebrate the good ole 1 year mark with barbecue and root beer floats. Which is quite limited here in the Philippines. Following the celebration, we had Zone Conference. I loved it! We focused on the difference between a testimony and conversion. And how we can help our interested people become converted unto the Lord. Zone Conference was then followed with exchanges. It was me and another american. His name is Elder Barzee. He is an awesome guy, and an even better missionary. We ended up finding a lot of new people to teach. While on exchanges, we went to dinner right. As we were eating we hear someone yell from behind us "marhay na banggi po sa inyong dalawang pogi" which in english translates too "good evening to you two handsome...

A Typhoon in the Middle of Summer!

Hey yall!  What an absolute amazing week it has been! It has been filled with funny stories and crazy experiences. We started off this week having a great day of missionary work. We were teaching and serving the amazing people of the Philippines, when all of the sudden we got a call from the Zone Leaders. They told us a big Typhoon was on its way to hit our area... we were instructed to pack up for 3 days, and go to Lagonoy ( a bigger city outside of our area. ) We were told to not leave Lagonoy until instructed otherwise. So we didn't. As the night went on we were really expecting so to see a big typhoon start to take way, but it didn't happen. There was a little bit of rain fall and some wind but, that was it. The next day came by and there still was no typhoon... we were wondering what to do. Do we work? Do we go back to our area? We ended calling the Zone Leaders, and they said to stay in Lagonoy until everything had passed. So we stayed and worked in their area.  As a Dis...
