Ang Aking Unang Bagyo (My First Typhoon)

Hey y'all!

This week has been pretty wild! My companion and I haven't spent a ton of time together this week due to many exchanges with the District Leader, Zone Leader, and the Training Specialists. Exchanges are when 2 pairs of missionaries switch companions for a day. Exchanges are awesome because I get to see different teaching styles, different ways of missionary work, and I get to learn a little bit from each person I go on exchanges with! Because of all these exchanges, I have been practicing the First Lesson in Tagalog a lot. Getting evaluated and learning about what I need to fix and change to make the lesson flow better, and my Tagalog make sense. And I can actually teach the First Lesson in Tagalog now! It is still not perfect, and I have a lot to improve upon. But It is nice to be able to contribute in the lessons now! And not be that awkward American who can't say anything haha.

This week I have also experienced my first Typhoon! It was a signal 4 and luckily it did not hit our area directly, but I still had to evacuate to Iriga. We were on exchanges with the training specialists in Cotnogan on Friday. Around 5 pm the sky went dark and the rain started to pour! Me and my companion were a 2 hour walk away from our apartment with no signal and no umbrellas. So we were soaking wet from head to toe. Luckily, we met a lady earlier in the day who drove past us again and yelled at us to hop on her little scooter. We gladly agreed and headed to the apartment! Once back, we packed up our things, met up with the other companionship and headed to Iriga. Because we were with the training specialist, we had a car. Which was a huge blessing! Because if we didn't have one, we would have had no way to evacuate to Iriga due to motorcycles and jeepneys no longer transporting people to and from places. Once in Iriga with the Elders from our zone. The storm started to get worse. Very rainy and very, very windy. So windy that part of a roof came off and nearly hit one of the other missionaries! We stayed in Iriga until Sunday morning, when the storm had past and it was safe to travel again. The storm was big and pretty scary actually. I am very glad it didn't hit us directly. And cause too much damage.

But yep, that's the week!

Elder Morgan

P.S. I need to get better at taking pictures. Because I have none for this week.

He Made it to Naga! (and survived his first Typhoon)

Hey lovely parents!  We had a level 3 Typhoon here the other day, it was pretty cool, and scary. Luckily it didn't hit us directly. But there was a lot of rain and very, very strong wind. Also I have heard Naga gets hit with the hardest Typhoons, so it should be fun! Anyways, I leave tomorrow morning at 3:50 AM hopping on a plane to Naga. I think my P-Days will be switching to Monday, but I am still not sure. It will be fun to finally be in the mission, and to see the area. I've heard I have the best mission president out there, who I am excited to meet. I'm also excited to get my machete :) I love y'all very much and miss you! Talk to ya next week! -Isaac Dear Morgans, This is Sister Hansen. President and I are so happy to welcome Elder Morgan to the Philippines Naga Mission! He is well and just met his new companion. We just wanted you to know he arrived safely and that his P-days will be on Mondays. We love him already and look forward to serving with him here! Warml...

Dalawang pogi

Hey hey. This week has been awesome! Here's why... We were lucky enough to have held a service project at the local police station. It went great. We cleaned their alleyway and they gave us snacks. I guess it was a win win. We then got to celebrate the good ole 1 year mark with barbecue and root beer floats. Which is quite limited here in the Philippines. Following the celebration, we had Zone Conference. I loved it! We focused on the difference between a testimony and conversion. And how we can help our interested people become converted unto the Lord. Zone Conference was then followed with exchanges. It was me and another american. His name is Elder Barzee. He is an awesome guy, and an even better missionary. We ended up finding a lot of new people to teach. While on exchanges, we went to dinner right. As we were eating we hear someone yell from behind us "marhay na banggi po sa inyong dalawang pogi" which in english translates too "good evening to you two handsome...

A Typhoon in the Middle of Summer!

Hey yall!  What an absolute amazing week it has been! It has been filled with funny stories and crazy experiences. We started off this week having a great day of missionary work. We were teaching and serving the amazing people of the Philippines, when all of the sudden we got a call from the Zone Leaders. They told us a big Typhoon was on its way to hit our area... we were instructed to pack up for 3 days, and go to Lagonoy ( a bigger city outside of our area. ) We were told to not leave Lagonoy until instructed otherwise. So we didn't. As the night went on we were really expecting so to see a big typhoon start to take way, but it didn't happen. There was a little bit of rain fall and some wind but, that was it. The next day came by and there still was no typhoon... we were wondering what to do. Do we work? Do we go back to our area? We ended calling the Zone Leaders, and they said to stay in Lagonoy until everything had passed. So we stayed and worked in their area.  As a Dis...
