Oh to be 18 Years Old...

Hey y'all!

This week has been great! Just a lot of trying to learn this language. And struggling to speak in lessons. Everyone here speaks in Rinconada, which all the missionaries say is very very different from Tagalog, and really hard to learn. So it has definitely been a challenge for me. I still cant understand anyone very well haha. But we have also been able to find people to teach which is super exciting!

On another note. Elder Hansen and I are the Americans here in the Iriga Zone. and we have been having similar experiences/challenges in our missions. But just this week I found out that he had been lit on fire!!! So here is what happened. Everyone in the Philippines uses rubbing alcohol as hand sanitizer. And a member gave a gallon of rubbing alcohol to Elder Hansen and his companion Elder Willy. They, being the smart missionaries they are, used the alcohol to toast their bread by pouring it on the table and lighting it. As the fire started to die out Elder Willy went to add more alcohol, and the whole gallon started to burst out flames! Right onto Elder Hansen's face and chest! He was on fire! And it was not going out. Elder Hansen starting running around. And Elder Willy was trying to tackle him to put out the flames! One thing led to the next and Elder Hansen has many serious burns now. He has been in the apartment this whole week just trying to rest and heal. But it looks like he might have to go back to America for some better treatment! And he is pretty sad about it all. He now goes by Crispy King, named after a fast food joint here in Iriga. Also the other American in our Zone has had to go back to America due to a bad stomach illness. So it looks like I'm the only American left:(

But that is just about it for this week! Love Y'all!

He Made it to Naga! (and survived his first Typhoon)

Hey lovely parents!  We had a level 3 Typhoon here the other day, it was pretty cool, and scary. Luckily it didn't hit us directly. But there was a lot of rain and very, very strong wind. Also I have heard Naga gets hit with the hardest Typhoons, so it should be fun! Anyways, I leave tomorrow morning at 3:50 AM hopping on a plane to Naga. I think my P-Days will be switching to Monday, but I am still not sure. It will be fun to finally be in the mission, and to see the area. I've heard I have the best mission president out there, who I am excited to meet. I'm also excited to get my machete :) I love y'all very much and miss you! Talk to ya next week! -Isaac Dear Morgans, This is Sister Hansen. President and I are so happy to welcome Elder Morgan to the Philippines Naga Mission! He is well and just met his new companion. We just wanted you to know he arrived safely and that his P-days will be on Mondays. We love him already and look forward to serving with him here! Warml...

Dalawang pogi

Hey hey. This week has been awesome! Here's why... We were lucky enough to have held a service project at the local police station. It went great. We cleaned their alleyway and they gave us snacks. I guess it was a win win. We then got to celebrate the good ole 1 year mark with barbecue and root beer floats. Which is quite limited here in the Philippines. Following the celebration, we had Zone Conference. I loved it! We focused on the difference between a testimony and conversion. And how we can help our interested people become converted unto the Lord. Zone Conference was then followed with exchanges. It was me and another american. His name is Elder Barzee. He is an awesome guy, and an even better missionary. We ended up finding a lot of new people to teach. While on exchanges, we went to dinner right. As we were eating we hear someone yell from behind us "marhay na banggi po sa inyong dalawang pogi" which in english translates too "good evening to you two handsome...

A Typhoon in the Middle of Summer!

Hey yall!  What an absolute amazing week it has been! It has been filled with funny stories and crazy experiences. We started off this week having a great day of missionary work. We were teaching and serving the amazing people of the Philippines, when all of the sudden we got a call from the Zone Leaders. They told us a big Typhoon was on its way to hit our area... we were instructed to pack up for 3 days, and go to Lagonoy ( a bigger city outside of our area. ) We were told to not leave Lagonoy until instructed otherwise. So we didn't. As the night went on we were really expecting so to see a big typhoon start to take way, but it didn't happen. There was a little bit of rain fall and some wind but, that was it. The next day came by and there still was no typhoon... we were wondering what to do. Do we work? Do we go back to our area? We ended calling the Zone Leaders, and they said to stay in Lagonoy until everything had passed. So we stayed and worked in their area.  As a Dis...
