He Made it to Naga! (and survived his first Typhoon)

Hey lovely parents!  We had a level 3 Typhoon here the other day, it was pretty cool, and scary. Luckily it didn't hit us directly. But there was a lot of rain and very, very strong wind. Also I have heard Naga gets hit with the hardest Typhoons, so it should be fun! Anyways, I leave tomorrow morning at 3:50 AM hopping on a plane to Naga. I think my P-Days will be switching to Monday, but I am still not sure. It will be fun to finally be in the mission, and to see the area. I've heard I have the best mission president out there, who I am excited to meet. I'm also excited to get my machete :) I love y'all very much and miss you! Talk to ya next week! -Isaac Dear Morgans, This is Sister Hansen. President and I are so happy to welcome Elder Morgan to the Philippines Naga Mission! He is well and just met his new companion. We just wanted you to know he arrived safely and that his P-days will be on Mondays. We love him already and look forward to serving with him here! Warml...

1st Week in the Philippines

Hey Y'all! I have to keep this email short, due to small facilities and a lot of missionaries. But my time in the Philippines has been totally awesome! The people are so, so friendly. And the food is awesome! So far I have eaten Chicken Feet, Liver and they call it mystery meat haha. I haven't quite figured out what it is yet, but it is yummy! I have been to the Temple most of the nights here, where we have to take an underground tunnel too! But it has been super fun, because we have been able to talk to the locals and test out our Tagalog. I can't really understand anyone and they can't understand me, but they try to help me out as best as they can haha.  We met a whole youth group from the Naga mission, the part of the country I am going to, and they were so friendly! They wanted to take pictures, and teach us some slang. It was really fun! They wrote their names in my notebook so that I can remember them when I get out there haha. All of the Filipinos have been wavin...

Welcome to the Manila, Philippines MTC!

Hey Y'all!  I made it safe and sound! I don't have much time to email, so I am going to make it quick. It is super super super poor here. The bus ride to the MTC was about 45 mins, and was actually quite sad to see the living conditions. But surprisingly enough, the MTC itself is a lot nicer than the Provo one! The food is sooooooooooo good! Everyone is so friendly and kind. But there are only about 300 kids here instead of the 2,500 at Provo. But I have to go. I love you both, tons! I will tell you all about it on my Friday, your Thursday! Also I already saw Tyler. BYE! Elder Morgan Isaac met up with one of his besties, Tyler Sheppard!

Week 3 In the MTC!

This week has been really good, but I am starting to get tired of the MTC schedule and am eager to get to the Philippines. Let's see This week started of with an amazing Tuesday Night Devotional with Moms favorite Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of The Quorum of the 12 Apostles! He is such a loving man, and as soon as he walked into the room I could feel the spirit he carried with him. He talked about missionary work and its importance! It was such an amazing talk and got me absolutely pumped to get into the field. Next up, a member of our district has sadly headed home. Elder Finch is a great great man and it was sad to see him leave, but he had some important stuff to take care of. He said he would see us in the Philippines and I don't doubt it.  But honestly not much has happened this week. My testimony of our Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ is growing exponentially, and I love it. Though in the dorms it has been getting crazy! Buzz cuts, water gun fights and much much mo...

Week 2 in the Provo, Utah MTC

MALIGAYANG PASKO!!  Merry Christmas everyone! I t is official, Christmas time has begun in the Philippines! For them Christmas begins on September 1st and goes all the way till the end of December! Being the only holiday that they mainly celebrate, they go all out! This week has been way good. Starting off, my district and I had an awesome Temple trip to the Provo Temple, which is just a few minutes walk up the road. It is SOOOO BIG compared to the Newport Temple! The layout is really unique and creative. And the artwork portrayed inside is absolutely beautiful. But then came our first in-person HOA, where my companion and I, teaching a lesson about the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Tagalog. This was on Wednesday the 31st. We did not understand a single word that the native Filipina was saying. It was only 15 minutes long, but for those 15 minutes we couldn't understand her, and she couldn't understand us. At. All. It was very irritating and frustrating. It felt like I was a 2 year...
