Service Projects

Hey y'all! Hi everyone! Nothing to crazy has happened this week. I had an interview with my mission president which was awesome, he is such a great great man. And he is such an amazing teacher, I learn so much from him. Other than that we were able to do a service project this week. For the project we made kitchen sets. They had forks, spoons, cups, pots, table clothes/mats, plates and bowls etc. And it was so fun! The Church will be handing them out to the wonderful people in the Philippines who are in much need of help and supplies! It is so awesome to see the amount of service opportunities that can be found through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! I have been able to see a little bit of progress in the Tagalog language this week! I am starting to understand people a lot better, and I am able to converse with them a little bit better! It makes missionary work so much more fun and meaningful when you can start to connect better with the people! And them with you! ...

Oh to be 18 Years Old...

Hey y'all!  This week has been great! Just a lot of trying to learn this language. And struggling to speak in lessons. Everyone here speaks in Rinconada, which all the missionaries say is very very different from Tagalog, and really hard to learn. So it has definitely been a challenge for me. I still cant understand anyone very well haha. But we have also been able to find people to teach which is super exciting!  On another note. Elder Hansen and I are the Americans here in the Iriga Zone. and we have been having similar experiences/challenges in our missions. But just this week I found out that he had been lit on fire!!! So here is what happened. Everyone in the Philippines uses rubbing alcohol as hand sanitizer. And a member gave a gallon of rubbing alcohol to Elder Hansen and his companion Elder Willy. They, being the smart missionaries they are, used the alcohol to toast their bread by pouring it on the table and lighting it. As the fire started to die out Elder Willy wen...

Finders of the Elect

Hey y'all!  Nothing too crazy has happened this week. We have been trying to teach a lot of new people to help grow our Branch here in Cotnogan. The problem is that not a lot of people are interested in learning about our church. We have noticed that we are able to find new people to teach, but it is hard to find new people to teach that are actually sincerely interested in our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. So, as one of my brothers called it we have spent a lot of time trying to be "Finders of the Elect." And so far it hasn't been going to hot haha. But I know as we keep at it, and testify of Christ, we will be able to help bring others unto Christ! And I can't wait to see how it goes! So, for this email I wanted to share my testimony with y'all. I know this Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I know God loves me. And I know He loves You. I know God wants us to be happy in this life, and to have true joy...

Ang Aking Unang Bagyo (My First Typhoon)

Hey y'all! This week has been pretty wild! My companion and I haven't spent a ton of time together this week due to many exchanges with the District Leader, Zone Leader, and the Training Specialists. Exchanges are when 2 pairs of missionaries switch companions for a day. Exchanges are awesome because I get to see different teaching styles, different ways of missionary work, and I get to learn a little bit from each person I go on exchanges with! Because of all these exchanges, I have been practicing the First Lesson in Tagalog a lot. Getting evaluated and learning about what I need to fix and change to make the lesson flow better, and my Tagalog make sense. And I can actually teach the First Lesson in Tagalog now! It is still not perfect, and I have a lot to improve upon. But It is nice to be able to contribute in the lessons now! And not be that awkward American who can't say anything haha.  This week I have also experienced my first Typhoon! It was a signal 4 and luckil...
