Where's My Companion?!?!?!

Hey Y'all! I love the Philippines! The culture, the food, and especially the people! Filipinos are soooo friendly and out going, and are definitely making me feel loved. This week I have been able to try a bunch of new foods, which the members made for us. All of it was very very good! Like Lubi lubi, buchi, spicy carbonata and many more, of which I have forgotten the names haha. Also because we are living in a jungle part of the Philippines, we have a lot of buko (coconuts) everywhere! And everyone makes this delicious drink consisting of coconut water, sweet and condensed milk, and sugar. And everyone loves to watch the American as I try to hack the coconut husks off with a machete. It is a lot of fun!  Everyone in the Philippines makes themselves at home, wherever they are. Everyone knows everyone, and everyone looks out for everyone. It is such a cool thing! Because they are going through the same struggles in life, they realize how important it is to treat others ho...

Lost in the Jungle of San Roque!

Hey ya'll this week has been wild!  Yes, Elder Anor and I got lost in the jungles of San Roque! But before I get into that let me tell you about Elderly Filipino Week here in Cotnogan. It is a holiday over here. All of the old people from around our area come and party! All week! They blast songs and sing karaoke, have dance competitions, and best of all cook good food for us to eat! Respect is a big factor in Filipino Culture, so this week was dedicated to showing our love and respect for the Elderly. It was so much fun and I was able to practice my Tagalog with them a little bit which was awesome!  This week we have had no water, and we wont for another month-ish. So each morning we have to walk nearly a kilometer to the water pump and get to work. After we pump our containers with water we have to lug the water all the way back to the apartment. And we have to do this a few times just to get water for the day! It is very fun haha.  This week has been a struggle wi...

Starting in Cotnogan

Hey y'all! I am finally in the field! The area I was assigned to is Cotnogan and it is known and the jungle zone! It is soooo green and beautiful here! It is also one of the poorer areas in my mission. And it is super sad to see the living conditions. A lot of the houses are made from bamboo and wood, with not electricity and running water. I have been taking a lot of bucket showers and having to wipe with my hand, if you know what i mean, which I am still trying to get used to! Our apartment is actually a pretty nice one compared to others. But it is still invested with a lot of bugs and animals haha. It is actually quite gross! But the people of Cotnogan are so so kind and awesome, even though I have not been able to understand or speak to basically all of them haha. I am the first white person in Cotnogan since 2 years ago! So everybody waves, smiles and shouts "Hey Joe" or "He's Too White!" They call every American Joe haha. At first, a lot of the young ...
